There is no doubt that wind energy is one of the most environmental friendly options of power generation. There are ofcourse some drawbacks, and since there is now greater focus on wind power, i think we will see some major improvements in the future. I think wind power is here to stay. Ofcourse other sources need to be tapped as well.

Am new here....I was interested in reading up and finding up about new innovations people are coming up with to save the environment and reduce global warming. Anyone got anythin?

hey...found a site www.ideawicket.com. it's got an innovation by some1 on a wind mill kinda thing. interesting read. if anyone else comes across nething similar, plz do let me know.

I saw something on the Beyond Tomorrow programme the other day, about a wind generator from Holland called the TOBY. It is mounted on a vertical pole and rotates around it in the vertical axis like a combine harvester's thresher blade. Apparently one generator can power an entire household.

Beyond Tomorrow has a website where you can trawl through episodes to links about the subjects. Well worth a look there Emma.

Plans to build one of Europe's biggest wind farms on the Isle of Lewis are set to be turned down, BBC Scotland understands.

The BBC's Gaelic news service, Radio nan Gaidheal, has learned that Scottish Government ministers are "minded to refuse" the 181 turbine scheme.
