Default Won't somebody please think of the bats?

Bats are at risk from wind turbines, researchers have found, because the rotating blades produce a change in air pressure that can kill the mammals.

Canadian scientists examined bats found dead at a wind farm, and concluded that most had internal injuries consistent with sudden loss of air pressure.

Thanks for the link. That's really sad. I wonder if there's anyone working on a different way of utilising wind power that doesn't have the problems that these wind turbines are proving to have?

What about the carcinogenic particles polluting the air they (bats) and other animals breathe? Why are the deaths caused by wind turbines more important than the deaths caused by hunting and pollution?

I hope many members here would be aware of the GSM/CDMA (Cellular) Towers built up on tall buildings.

In my town too we have similar towers. Infact one is right on the terrace of my appartment.

Recently due to some problem electric supply was cutoff after midnight and as one can expect, it was pitch dark and pin drop silent. Suddenly after passing few minutes in this state, I recoginsed a strange kind of sound. I remember using similar sound producing device to keep clear of rodents in my old home.

After some investigations next day, I came to know that the sound was from the generator that was used to backup the tower. Although the generator was said to be silent it was producing that peculiar sound. Moreover one may not hear it in the day time as it was pretty low but at night it was quite clear.

Now my question is that, Is anyone aware of "high frequency" or similar sounds created by back up generators used in GSM Towers? Can they cause any damage to humans, like windmills had done to bats?

Any chances? Please help!

When the turbine hits the bat, does it go "KAPOW!"?
