Default Panda sex isn't black and white

Ensuring the survival of your species is a lot of pressure to put on a first date. But that's the stark reality facing China's endangered wild pandas, say the experts who are building the first bamboo-filled "dating and mating lane."

Pandas are an evolutionary dead end. Reproductive issues aside, we are talking about an animal that almost exclusively eats bamboo...yet is unable to properly digest bamboo in a manner that provides substantial nutrition. Humans encroaching on Panda habitats wouldn't be so much of a problem if they ate meat like carnivores are supposed to. Instead they have to eat ridiculous amounts of bamboo just to stay alive. Gotta say they're up against it.

Those are amazing piccies! Enjoyed that!

When I was a wee girl (many moons ago) my very first teddy was a panda-bear! I had it till I was in my 30s, when the current dog decided to chew it to bits.

Apparently they have tried...

but failed.

Seemingly, pandas have notoriously low libidos!

All has been revealed now thanks to Aunty.

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Giant panda sex secrets revealed

The giant panda's courtship and mating sequence - from boisterous beginning to noisy ending - has been filmed in the wild for what may be a TV first.
