Default 10 Animals That May Go Extinct in the Next 10 Years

Today we are witnessing what some experts believe to be the "sixth wave of extinction," a species diminution that appears to be the handiwork of humankind. Experts estimate that the current extinction rate is somewhere between 100 and 1,000 times higher than the background rate.

I have a feeling my future kid will be asking me: "They actually had living polar bears back when you were a kid?"

And I'll say: "Yeah, that was back before the icecaps had melted and they all died."

Six of the eight species of bear in the world are now officially classed as facing extinction.

The smallest, the sun bear, is the latest to be classified as vulnerable on the Red List of Threatened Species.
