Is it just me, or does that research sound decidedly dodgy to you? Ants have their way of behaving genetically programmed. There is no such thing as altruism in ants - this kind of behaviour can only belong to beings with higher consciousness. I really do get annoyed at the anthropomorphisation of insects such as ants!!

I can believe that animals such as dogs, horses & dolphins may have a higher consciousness than most animals - but ants?? I don't think so!

So is it just me or has anybody else purposely dropped food like candy on the ground just to watch ants swarm and take it away?? They are so fun to watch!

In the hot dry summers in Spain, I used to see them standing in a circle round water drops, drinking - it always amused me....they looked like cows round a pond! Unfortunately in those days I didn't have a digicam & never took a photo of them!
