Default Will Cloning Solve Problem Of Animal Extinction?

Just a thought. Not that I support the idea (yet). What if they perfected the system of cloning ? We can revive these animals when the earth is already healed or there are very few humans left.

It will probably rather be used in livestock production, to enhance the "quality assurance / quality control" of food supply. If the ham tastes good, clone it, to ensure that the next one will be the same.

Suppose it could but I wouldn't fancy it myself. I mean evolution is far more complicated than we can understand right now, so how can we claim do a better job of natural selection than nature itself? For domestic animals its one thing but for wild animals its a whole other issue.

I see it as something of a last resort. It's far from ideal but if it's a choice between cloning a species or letting it become extinct then it's a pretty easy decision to make.
