Default European Robin Question

Is that pretty little robin that you have in the UK a cavity nester or an open nester like our American robin (migratory thrush)? Does anyone know? I need the info. Help.

I originally hail from the UK. If I remember it would be a cavity nester.I have never heard those terms before. The robin was known for its eccentric nesing habits such as a large old teapot .

Yes the European Robin nests in cavities - holes in walls, old shoes, tea pots, as well as nesting boxes.
They are very territorial - the male will attack anything that just MIGHT be another robin - any washing hung out to dry with lots of red in it, childrens' toys that are red... anything red actually, will be attacked by a male robin in breeding condition. They also have been known to attack their own reflections in window glass.
Their song is beautiful on a sunny spring morning...
Fed regularly by the same human, they become almost "tame" and will come to greet you when you are busy in the garden, swooping down to steal worms from each spade-ful of soil you dig up.
