Default Japan to start whale hunt again

This time their target includes Humpbacks in their intention to kill 1000 whales.
How can it brought home to Japan that this is no more acceptable than when they used PoW's as live bayonet targets?

I am no sentimental bleeding heart ,I am an ecologist and from my experience and training can see no reason whatsoever for this killing other than some ego trip on the part of Japan to defy international opinion. They don't even eat the meat an have resorted to almost force feeding it to children in order to recreate a tradition that had rightly died out.Just as the whales they hunt almost did.
This is not a subsistence hunt,it's purpose is obscure.
I do not presume to speak on behalf of any person,or group but I am sure that there will be protests .
How can an effective, legal and stunt-free protest be mounted? Could we persuade folks in the docks and airports ,especially those in customs and exercise[ revenue ] to "delay" Japanese goods for example?
Any ideas?

Why can't someone who's in charge of these things simply follow the fleet from hunting to whatever they do with them. That way they can prove whether it's being done for science (which I doubt) or not.

I remain at a loss to comprehend why Japan, one of the world's wealthiest countries, continues to defy the world's sensibilities by whaling. Mothball the fleet and compensate the whalers - do the right thing, guys!

I'm off to hunt Japanese for "scientific research" too.

It is terrible. The US has joined in the fight though so that is good.

The US has added its voice to international criticism of Japan's largest-ever whaling expedition.

The UK, Australia and New Zealand have already urged Japan to call off this year's hunt, which will target humpback whales for the first time in decades.

I am at a loss to find any meanigful scientific publication that has resulted from years of "scientific" whaling by japan. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Maybe the research in question is to see how quickly Humpback Whales become extinct?

My advice to anyone who objects to this practice is to write to the Japanese tourist board saying that you had planned to take your holiday in Japan but cancelled it when you learned of this hunt.

Also I heard of a protest boat armed with a battering ram that planned to attack the whaling ships. Any news?

Petitions are a waste of time as some else has pointed out.All you will get is a stock reply from all of their Embassies saying blah blah blah.Been there.
Never did see any research published, they are killing the whales to eat.My only complaint with that is that they are still endangered, all of the species need protect for a while yet.But Japan seems to have dug its heels in on this one.
