Whaling has been outlawed for decades yet year after year we hear that Japan wants to resume whaling for what it calls scientific purposes.

Can we not ask the Japanese government exactly what sort of science calls for the killing of 1000 whales and what data exactly they hope to get.
Presumably the 1000th dead whale will reveal exactly the same information as the previous 999?

I know of no other scientific work whereby the product of the research ends up on the menu of posh restaurants.

They're going to kill a thousand other whales in the name of scientific research. What are they going to study? How the age of the whale affects the taste?

I heard one reporter say they are taking advantage of an exemption to do this "scientific" whaling. Aren't they then required to show the proof of doing it in accordance with the exemption? Where are the articles in scientific journals?
Btw we stopped watching Iron Chef after they used whale meat. It's still on SBS, I wish they'd had the gumption to stop buying the program.

Arnie and David, yeah
