We must all - sooner, rather than later - come to terms with the fact that energy from oil, gas, and coal is not cheap, but extremely costly; as seen from an ecological point of view. Such a realization would swiftly make all renewable energy sources cost-efficient, and it would happen overnight. I mean: it takes a little respect for scientific findings, that's all. And of course the political will to act on that science. And I mean,
wisdom has nothing to do with it: it's got all to do with a measure of reasonability, a willingness to learn, and a firm belief in looking for options (solar power, wind power, wave power, etc.). As for now, though, our political and industrial powers are much more concerned about the inconvenient truth that most all modern societies depend on fossil-fuels, and that it is going to take a lot of work (we hate work, don't we?) to do away with this oh, so unfortunate threat. Our politicians, industrial leaders, economists, and (for goodness sake!)
ordinary pedestrians are too full of fear, and that is the reason why scientific truths just do not stick. Fear of change, that's the term. Fear of change, and the silent scream:
"Oh My God! What Have We Done?!" - Leaving us all with even more fear of change. Idiot mammals.
