Default Japan to Build Massive Floating Generators for Food & Power

Battered by soaring energy costs and aghast at dwindling fish stocks, Japanese scientists think they have found the answer: filling the seas with giant “eco-rigs” as powerful as nuclear power stations. The project, which could result in village-sized platforms peppering the Japanese coastline within a decade reflects a growing panic in the country.

Isn't Japan susceptible to tsunami's? I wonder how these eco-rigs will hold up when there is a sudden decrease/increase in water elevation?

It seems the Times Online is getting keener on following the whole wavepower thing. Middle of last month was another interesting piece talking about David MacKay, professor of natural philosophy in the physics department at Cambridge University and his thoughts on the UK utilizing the powere of the waves abd tides from the Atlantic coast. Sorry can't put a link in yet but if your interested try 17th August issue.
