Grey water systems are used in most developed countries, although installations are still rare. They are not cheap ways of saving water, in fact they are generally one of the more expensive options, which is why they are not that popular. They are also high maintenance and energy intensive.

How do you mean?

The economics in general are that greywater systems are more expensive than simply relying on mains-only water (in most places).
