Car tax and car waste

I read today that cars are depreciating at record rates due in large parts to the increased taxes on cars leading to an environment of uncertainty.

I hope they would be recycled, rather than sent to landfil. I thought there was supposed to be increasing pressure to design parts that could be recycled?

It would be financial insanity to send a car to landfill:

Scrap value being what it is, and the UK having the facilities to shred cars down to little bits.
