Solar Energy Forum I have no doubt that we will be successful in harnessing the sun's energy.... If sunbeams were weapons of war, we would have had solar energy centuries ago. ~Sir George Porter

what is there to power on the moon? where the hell did they get this figure? why would we want to power the moon..how would we get the energy up there? ok I'm just messing around...but i really don't think the dogs would appreciate that o.0

There are plenty of detractors of renewable energy, but the rollout around the world continues.

Default I Use Solar Energy so do you

I comment all the time on a cold sunny day my oil heater never comes on unless a outer door is open. Yep the sun coming through my windows doe the job.
My porch on a hot summer day from sun to shade causes a cooling breeze through my open window.

Reflective roof colourings can maintain to reflect sunshine.

You do realize just that last mention could make every home with just the right equipment take that solar heat turn it into electricity that could be stored in batteries or even enclosed tanks.
The Sun is what keeps this Earth the way it is.
It does it without any fancy human type collectors.
If you use too much energy find ways to reduce it.
Don't go taking over hundreds of miles of land to run your hair dryers.

Personal sacrifice does not hurt . it is even healthy .

I believe that personal sacrifice is a very good way to reduce our footprint. I think this comes with age as well. I was more wasteful when I was a child and now I am more aware of what I am wasting.

I dont' believe that thousands of acres should be used to create plants. If there weren't already enough terrorist targets, what do you think this would be? I think having solar on people's roofs is the best idea. Maybe have the power company subsidize them for the right to buy the power back or for the right to the power.?. Distributed power generation should be the way to go!

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the amount of solar energy that hits the surface of the earth every hour is greater than the total amount of energy that the entire human population requires in a year. Another way of looking at it is that roughly 100 square miles of solar panels placed in the southwestern U.S. could power the entire country.

O you could nuke Iran and turn the sand into one big glass panel and power everywhere

More than a hundred of generators, each fitted with thousands of huge mirrors, would generate electricity to be transmitted by undersea cable to Europe and then distributed across the continent to European Union member nations, including Britain.

It's great that solar has so many possibilities though once the functional difficulties are overcome.

We are on the verge of a PV and other solar boom, so get ready to invest in PV and other solar stocks. They are already going crazy. I saw one go up about 40% in the last two days !!! and at least half a dozen exceed 10% growth in the last two days.
