Default Google to run on solar power (sort of)

Googleplex is going solar. Well, part of it is. The Mountain View-based company announced its plans to power part of its HQ using solar panels. 9,200 solar panels to be exact.

Decent idea. I would think with the number of computers they must have an even better idea would be to ensure they have the most efficient computers available. Of course they might already do that.

I'm not sure if Google really 'do no evil' any more but still, respect to them for doing this and their other green initiatives.

Hey, in the beginning, its better to just take what you can get. The more the message gets pushed, the more organizations will sign on. But, it gives us all a little piece of mind. :)

At the rate they use power, and the fact that the sun is plentiful in CA, that investment will pay for itself in no time. The environmental benefit is an added bonus.
