Solar Energy Forum I have no doubt that we will be successful in harnessing the sun's energy.... If sunbeams were weapons of war, we would have had solar energy centuries ago. ~Sir George Porter

Default Peek oil and the future of energy...

This is my first post on this forum so bare with me for I know nothing about alternative energy.

What should one such as myself do when just realizing that peek oil is real and soon the world will be starving for energy more than it already is.

With oil prices thru the roof and only getting worse, I need to start thinking of ways to combat this problem.

How can I start to use solar energy for my day to day life? I have limited $$ and I rent an Apartment in NY?.

I want to start with something that may help with the costs of living and the environment, any ideas???

Thanks in advance.

Are there any solar power companies in New York you can talk to?

None that I know of, I wish their was a way that I can buy and use some solar panels that would work in a small application "like an apartment" so I wouldn't rely so much on oil and gas.

A solar panel that is EZ to operate and produces enough energy to run something on, maybe a few lights in the house or an air conditioner or the refrigerator.

Maybe I just would like to slowly start taking oil out of my life and start using something else "like the sun".

And im sure alot more people such as myself will be thinking like this in a few years.
