Backpack

The people over at Voltaic have come up with a backpack with solar panels.

I can imagine this is pretty handy for re-charging digital cameras, mobile phones, etc. while on the move. At $229, though, it's not cheap... what do you think?

Yeah, not cheap... I wonder how much of the inside space is taken up by the battery also.

Good point, it might be quite heavy as well. Don't want to be lugging around a 50 kilo bag all day

It's a nice idea, though, and apparently it's making its creator quite a lot of $$$.

A company called Sollatek make a product called the glowstar which is a solar lamp, used a lot by people who go hiking, camping etc. Can also charge your mobile phone from it. Think it costs about $100.
