Solar Energy Forum I have no doubt that we will be successful in harnessing the sun's energy.... If sunbeams were weapons of war, we would have had solar energy centuries ago. ~Sir George Porter

Default By 2050 Solar Power Could End U.S. Dependence on Foreign Oil

A massive switch from coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear power plants to solar power plants could supply 69 percent of the U.S.’s electricity and 35 percent of its total energy by 2050. But $420 billion in subsidies from 2011 to 2050 would be required to fund the infrastructure and make it cost-competitive.

Quite. It's a lovely idea, but I'm not sure how likely it is to happen unfortunately.

Not enough, should have done the job right. But just think of the benefits, all the arabs are in Iraq trying to get their glory by shooting at US troops.Remind me again how many attacks there have been on US soil since your Mr Bush took 'em on?

But back to the topic. The stone age did not end because stones ran out [Sheik Yamani ] and the oil age will slowly fade away in a similar fashion.New ways of developing power will continue to be worked on in the background while the media [and google ] produce more and more hysterical pronouncements on the next device which will save to planet .Four years ago I demonstrated my solar powered water pump to neighbouring farmers who were all suitably impressed but the cost has not come down in the market-place.We have been reading here in our own lovely forum of spray-on solar gizmos but until they appear on the ground ,at reasonable price they will remain pipe dreams.I am being to get a sense of profiteering due to the gullibility of "greens" who think that by paying over the odds for green products that they are somehow saintly.Just look at the Prius fiasco.

From what I heard, most suicide bombings in Iraq were killing Iraqi's rather than troops.

Point is Spadlet, that if we like it or not Mr.Bush is doing what he was elected to do and that is to protect America and not the rest of us.
