Solar Energy Forum I have no doubt that we will be successful in harnessing the sun's energy.... If sunbeams were weapons of war, we would have had solar energy centuries ago. ~Sir George Porter

Because they're politicians, were never taught to think for themselves. Right now they are going to sell off our power stations just to finance some of their pet projects. Queensland have already done that and during a slightly hot day this summer. The powerstations had turned a few off for routine maintenance reasons. They still had 2000Mw of capacity left when they said the power was reaching it's limit of usage and started charging $9000 per Mw rather than the usual $3 for those who pay the various rates (industries).

The other reason is vacuum assisted water purifiers exist and work and solar towers based on mirrors work. But has anybody combined the two.

re; NSW government decisions. Yes I accept the politician part as "par for the course" so to speak, but I was just wondering what the actual basis of the decision making was and it appears that it's lack of knowledge of a better way such as what you have described ? or possibly contractually committed to the current approach ? or other reasonable reason ? I'm more curious about their rationale, rather than any perceived irrationality of it.
