Default solar with wind

hi, i have been wondering whether it is possible to have a machine which produces solar and wind energy at the same time. i have done some research and it seems like to have sufficient power from the sun you need a lot of solar panels. i just want to be able to have a smallish device that will store enough energy into a connected battery to power my laptop and phone charger. it would be good if it is portable as i go into the country quite a bit.

if anyone knows about a device similar to what i described i would love to know about it. thanx[/i]

that sounds pretty cool but is that available on the shelves in Australia yet? if so how much?

that was what i was looking for but is it small enough to take with me in the car on trips?? also on that thread people said that it cant store energy. does this mean that if you are not using it, that electricity will go to waste? if so can you connect it to a rechargable battery???

do you know of any 'build it yourself' energy systems like that.
thanx guys.

A car trip ? I'm not sure they are making them that small. The Bluenergy SolarWind turbnie is a 5 kw system costing $35,000. To power your laptop and phone, I think you may be better of with solar panels and sufficient battery storage and a battery charger.

For wind power you would need to have a tower or pole at least. You could probably get away with a small micro wind turbine on a collapsible pole say 5 metres in height, of say 20 watts or something to trickle charge a battery.
