Can people assemble their own solar panels?

I would like to see the process of making solar panels. I've seen a brief clip on "How it's Made" on the Discovery Channel. It was interesting, but didn't give any numbers behind the cost, time etc.

I was curious if it is possible to buy kits to make your own paneling. I'm guessing that a lot of the high pricing is due to the assembly process, wholesale and re-sale.

I'm looking for the empty frames of the panels, the individual 3" by 5" cells that make up the larger panel.

Anyway, I hope I got my point across. I'm looking at making 30 - 50 180W panels.

Any information on the manufacturing and assembly of PV panels is GREATLY appreciated!

So what you want to make the actual PV panel or the framework to connect and hold it to your roof?
