Default UK unable to sustain population, says study

The United Kingdom is drastically over-populated and could support only 17 million people if it had to provide for the current 60 million from its own resources, says a study published on Monday.

The UK has no hope of living sustainably unless every person's "ecological footprint" is reduced by more than 70 per cent, the study for the Optimum Population Trust (OPT) claims.

In an era of globalisation I'm not sure quite how relevant this study is.

I was going to suggest Mongolia where there is plenty of room for a few more yurts.

These reports get nuttier ever day,Think about it,we have places to to generate wealth and generate food. One type of place heavily populated ,the other with just the odd Myrtti or forfi type wandering about. The city of London generates gazillions of bucks every year but it is not noted for growing cows now is it? I think Monaco is so crowded that people sleep are growing taller and thiner

The group producing this report are out to lunch. Because they are eco-fascists they also either do not believe in, or have heard of, international trade.
