What is the most environmentally friendly way of dealing with dog poo? I have heard about using a wormery, but also that that shouldnt be used if the dog is wormed.

Any ideas?

Good question...never really thought about that to be honest. I assume the local council comes and collects it and then disposes of it somewhere...maybe to a landfill, but it could also be classed as hazerdous waste in which case it would need careful disposal.

The facts about dog fouling (the things I do for you people )
Dogs in this country produce 1,000 tonnes of waste every day.
We can get many diseases from dog mess, one of which is called toxocariasis.
Toxocara are common parasitic roundworms found in dogs.
A single dog mess infected with worms contains about one million microscopic eggs which can live for up to two years.
Toxocara eggs are not infectious until at least two to three weeks after they have come out of your dog. Fresh dog mess is not infectious, and you can safely clear up after your dog.
Toxocara eggs can even be found in areas where dogs are banned, such as children's play areas.
Common symptoms of toxocariasis in humans are eye disorders, dizziness, nausea (feeling sick), muscle pains and fever.
If you don't clear up after your dog, you will receive a £50 fixed-penalty notice or face up to a £1,000 fine in court!

I really wanted suggestions of how to deal with my dog's poo in the garden. When out walking we collectit and either place it in bins provided, or bring it home.

The dog toilet is an interesting idea. There's a version for cats too http://www.armitages.co.uk/cats3.htm which looks like it could reduce the amount of litter that ends up in landfill.

I was wondering though, could you put the cat litter in the dog toilet? Would the bioactivator have the same effect on the nasties in cat poo?

deepthinker..i feed my dogs an extremely healthy diet, one that i know once they defecate, their faeces is sure to compost naturally..making sure they are eating good food is key, if you want some recipes ill gladly give you some. when you can create a nutritious homemade food product, you can almost control the by-product

i also have citrus trees, i put the poo under them (using shovel of course)..citrus trees (lemon, grapefruit) like a fairly acidic soil, so the composting poo aids their growth. if you can handle seeing a bit of poo under the tree when you pick your lemons then this is an option for ya. organicsolvent would tell ya your picking poofruit though a little science will prove its perfectly ok.

healthy diet is key. i cant stress that enough.
