Default Pollution 'ups blood clot risk'

Breathing in air pollution from traffic fumes can raise the risk of potentially deadly blood clots, a US study says.

Exposure to small particulates - tiny chemicals caused by burning fossil fuels - is known to increase the chances of heart disease and stroke.

No problem, if everybody is posting the same thing, then it MUST be true...

This helps justify the suggestion that we should breathe less, for example skip every two-three breaths. I actually saw that somewhere as a recommendation for reducing our individual carbon footprints (something like "breathe less to fight global warming"). Now, I suppose this will also be seen as a means of reducing your risk of developing blood clots.

Even though I love my diesels ,there is a problem with particulates.Fitting the newer filters cures this problem and I believe that some countries are making retrofitting a legal requirement.I have no figures regarding any loss of efficiency but as diesels are so god to start with, this can only be marginal.Folks run A/C with less than a 2% drop in MPG [ 2litre diesel ]
