Default Organic Mushrooms

Surely all mushrooms are organic? Are fertilisers used in their production ?

Synthetic fertilizers very rarely, but pesticides are used (insecticides and fungicides). Also, straw can come from conventional farms and might have pesticide residues in it. And where cottonseed meal is used, that might be a GMO.

In some places to sell something as Organic, you need to have your property certified by the industry. So even if you don't use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides on your mushrooms, you still can't sell them as Organic.

Interesting ,I wonder about the dried imported stuff that i am so fond of.They are not being sold as organic and I wonder now to what degree these are cultivated rather than collected from the wild.funcide residue may be a problem as the drying process may concnetrate the residues.I will continue to eat them ,too old to start worrying on that score as asbestos will prolly get me first.Or an asteroid.
