Default Useful nuclear energy links

This thread is for you guys to post links to useful resources concerning nuclear energy. Try and make them as impartial as you can and fact based rather than news stories.

Here are two quite extensive resources. Be warned, they are pro-nuclear, but much of both sites are devoted to facts and figures, and these are reliable.

World Nuclear Association
Uranium Information Centre

Even if you're opposed to nuclear energy, both sites are worth checking out - make sure you know what exactly it is you're opposing.

*update* I've discovered this excellent breakdown of nuclear energy technology, which addresses the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear power in a rational, quantitative way. Basically, members of the physics department at the University of Melbourne in Australia decided to figure out for themselves whether nuclear was worth persuing, and they put their reasoning and conclusions online. Very much worth reading.

Centrillium,

Wow!, that is some resource.

I am really glad that I found this forum. You may know that we have a Magnox Reactor on Anglesey at Wylfa which is due to be decommissioned in 2010.

Thanks. Actually I really should note, which I didn't in this topic (although I have elsewhere), that the WNA and UIC are both industry organisations with all the biases that implies. nuclearinfo.net is great precisely because it isn't an industry site and has no connections or funding from the industry, its just a bunch of Australian physicists who decided to check the issue out for themselves.

I'll actually take the opportunity to add a couple more links - another industry resource is the Nuclear Energy Institute, and in particular I recommend the Nuclear Notes Blog where some NEI members post frequent articles, discussion and rebuttals of anti-nuclear positions. These guys are very active in making the pro-nuclear case in the blogosphere, and while they are industry employees and make their livings on industry money you can really tell that they're also passionate about the technology.

On the unbiased (well - unpaid), non-industry side there's also Freedom for Fission. This is a site very loosely associated with Phil Plait's excellent Bad Astronomy site (which started with debunking the 'moon landings were faked' meme, and went on to become an excellent resource for those seeking to combat the pseudoscience and nonsense so prevalent in today's society). Essentially some guys from the Bad Astronomy forums decided to make a site to debunk the myths and distortions surrounding nuclear energy.

I love it here too - I'm a bit of a one-trick pony (unless someone brings up something space-related), but I really enjoy making the pro-nuclear case here because it isn't dismissed out of hand and there are a lot of people open-minded and intelligent enough to give the issue a fair hearing.

I didn't know about Wylfa - the time may come when I'm enough of a nuclear geek to know the vital statistics of every reactor in the UK, but I haven't attained that level yet. I've only visited two so far but I'm sure that figure will be going up in due course.

I read this weekend that there is a nuclear degree being started somewhere in Manchester. Will look for further details when I have time.

Edit:
Here's a post grad one, but not sure if its the one that I saw:
