You have a better idea on how we are to solve our impending power crunch?

I believe Besoeker was referring to ideas that would actually be practical. Ideas that provided us with reliable affordable energy. Ideas that on cold dark still nights, we wouldn't all be praying that France would have enough nuclear energy for us all.

I'm sure we've all seen the EUMENA idea, and would leave us hopelessly vulnerable to price hikes in energy. And unless we made sure that N.Africa was sufficiently developed, would make us more vulnerable to terrorist attack.

Well we've already had peak straw, and we'll soon see the last straw!

I'll get my coat.

Indeed Wobs.
In the short term at least, we (UK) have to rely on proven technology.
And imported fossil fuels.

The chickens are all coming home to roost....

The world is at a series of crossroads and the balls are going to start dropping soon...

I predict anarchy if EUMENA is not built.

Would you care to explain this vulnerablility to price hikes?

(I believe we are already being ripped off and only getting angrier at the fact that as taxpayers supporting coal we are then asked as consumers to spend extra on "green" energy!!!)

If construction started now, how long would it be before UK could see meaningful benefits?
