Before denigrating, you have to find a better alternative, so I have sent this to both parties, and I haven't heard anything yet. So we'll see. There maybe a fatal flaw in my idea.

To be a Capitalist and an Environmentalist at the Same Time?
The fatal flaw is calling anything, "free"!

Nuclear Power/Waste should not be an alternative: why don't you think of it that way as THE STARTING POINT and then what does life give as the answer?

Mistakes are mistakes but bad infrastructure decisions are bad infrastructure decisions. Look at the lack of Public transport for example.

Our streets are gridlocked and it will be expensive to undo this.

It's a helluva problem so you get points for trying! The "U" curve of Kubler-Ross dictates that we will all go through a period of denial and anger until we start looking at solutions and so the people who are looking at solutions are helping us all come out of the depression of such overwhelming, self inflicted problems.

We will find a way but maybe a bit of refinement is needed.

I will read the rest of the thread, tho, eventually!

Sad, but true, I would class this as invasion!

If they paid them peanuts for the service it would just be a "nice" way of doing it.

I live in Western Australia and this is my view, shared by many others: including the Premier.

Free is involved in the argument, people actually want to pay for something rather than get it for free is very strange, but then they cling onto the concept of capitalism like a god, unwavering that solutions out there that can benefit mankind, can be outside the capitalism mantra.

Drop the stuff in a volcano and the next eruption will spread it nicely in the atmosphere...

the only existing solution to nuclear waste is to store it in deep and stable place with constant monitoring. This till we find a way to improve the surgeneration process to recycle them.

Do you know what is the total amount of nuclear waste produced?
for a country like France, generating 80% of its electricity from nuclear plant from the 60's, it s represents the volume of an Olympic swimming pool... not that much finally! ( we consider here the most radioactive category of waste: uranium, plutonium...)

How about talking it along to mars or somewhere else in space and drop it off there!

Does radioactive rays travel in space? How far should it be disposed off so that earth is from it?

Space travel is dangerous. Espeically the first bit of getting into space.

You would have to increase the cost of electricity by some fifty times just to pay for the dump runs into outer space. But once its out of the orbit, you can usually just push the object in whatever direction you want it to go.

The usual Sunday dump run....

"Hey honey just doin' another dump run, don't wait up, should be home in a week, oh by the way I need a billion smackers to fuel up on the way."
