The last four (over the weekend).
Waking Ned (199

(or "Waking Ned Devine" in some part of the world). A gentle comedy in which very little happens - by the time I was thinking that they'd set the situation up, and now the fun would begin, I realised that that was it - end of film.
Oh.
Ho Hum.
Howl's Moving Castle (2004 ?) (Best animated feature film nominee yesterday) Even though I wasn't particularly overwhelmed by Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" from a couple of years ago, I really did like this. The mostly hand-done animation with very little CG stuff matched the quasi-Edwardian setting well. Good characterisation added to an entertaining plot and produced a very enjoyable result.
Good Night, and Good Luck (2005) (another nominee from yesterday) Subtle, polished, well executed... all of these and more, I can see - but I just wasn't in the mood or something. It didn't engage me really.
State and Main (2000) I completely missed this one when it first came out, but it's a gem. An ensemble cast keep a huge number of running gags/plotlines interweaving throughout with some fantastic throwaway lines. It's almost a live action Muppet Show in many ways (complete with Waldorf and Statler). You'd have to watch this a couple of times to get the best from it and follow all the gags. Great stuff.
