I am doing a project wooden pallets (skids) as a consumption issue with lumber and deforestation. I am sort of researching alternatives such as plastic and metal returnable pallets as well as cardboard pallets (very interesting) that I might post a little abstract of my project here in the weeks to come.
Quite interesting that about half of all lumber cut down in the world is used for wooden pallets and about 85% are used one time. 1995 saw about 220 million pallets in landfills in the US alone. That is the hell of a lot of wood.
Anyways, I was poking around the net looking for some information and I came across this place and decided to join!
