Spadlet's mention of mint and potatoes reminds me of a top chef at the Savoy Hotel in London many moons back who had many tests to see if trainees had any aptitude one of which was to cook new potatoes. If the newbie did not put the potatoes into boiling water infused with fresh mint ,then they failed !!
