Default spammer scammers

Why do people come onto forums just to plug their wares? If one of the regulars in here tells me of a product that they use I will be most interested and give it a whirl but for some dingbat to drop by and straight away start giving their sales pitch is a turn off.I think first scam, con trick, snake oil salesman and will never use that product.

Whilst not really an intro thread as such I shall leave it here and sticky it. If your intention here is merely to post a few plugs then this isn't the place for you. Whilst it is perhaps wishful to think some may read this and be put off from their activities hopefully you will heed Forfi's words and understand that people generally buy from people they trust, and that trust is not established instantly.

Being active in Forums, and having a product or service to promote at the same time is a fine line to walk. I hope my posts/involvement will be a pleasure and not create any negative feelings with any members...

People would probably be more inclined to see you as someone that genuinely wants to join the forum and less like someone that just wants to promote thier product or service if you start a thread here Introduce Yourself - The Environment Site Forums introducing yourself and letting us know a bit more information rather than just a link to your site. welcome to the forum

What kinda forum is this anyway?

Forfi, please behave, it does us no good to scare every new member off that happens to own a website

Ramsa, welcome to the site, as you've mentioned it is a fine line and we have lots of one post pluggers joining here with their latest eco sensation. I don't object to people promoting their stuff on here, but it does us both good if you take some time to build your credibility first. I get some good contributions, and you build your own reputation with the guys and girls here. Win, win.

Alot of people on the forum are very interested in doing stuff that benefits the environment and stuff, but some of us also have slightly overactive imaginations, so the forum may have a more relaxed and chilled out side to it at times. THere also seem to be people here that want to explore the reality of alot of the things that are being said in the media etc about climate change, renewable energy etc, so some heated discussions develop at times.
