Also, Chas Griffin, who wrote "Scenes from a smallholding" and "More scenes from a smallholding" would be great too. These books are part memoir, (about how he and his family moved from city life, where he worked as a teacher, to an organic semi-closed small-holding in Wales) part articles on how to do stuff like "grow a lot of runner beans" and part general reflections on the meaning of life and how to get the most use out of wellies, or what the best wardrobe is for a smallholder.
