"Hmm" kinds sums it up.

It's a slightly more efficient way of wasting energy on inefficient trips.

The energy source for the compressed air has to be considered as part of the equation.

Or just a new way to use oil?
Anyway, nobody would be using the air in the sense of consuming it or converting into something else. It just gets compressed to store energy and subsequently released to give back the energy.
