Obviously, but try switching off a car engine or that of a power station. Common sense dictates that the notion of tapping waste heat and converting to electricity could be an excellent idea to help reduce overall energy consumption, if it can be done cost effectively, in addition to doing the very obvious common sense things.

Kinda reminds me of that factour four stuff that Claire has mentioned in the past. Lots we can do by getting the most out of what we already have.

I couldn't agree more, by exploring both passive and active ideas in the mean time and taking advantage of them to as much an extent as reasonable. We cant all be light switch monitors and as explained there is plenty of scope for capturing waste heat that will be wasted regardless of what we do to save energy. Existing infrastructure that does waste heat, particularly in the area of engine heat from many sources, is an untapped opportunity begging for technology that can cost effectively help save more energy, by utilizing the waste heat and converting it to electricity. The notion of not producing heat from engines is difficult to fathom and so a device such as this described, could be an ideal technology to add to the tool kit for reducing engine heat and improving overall power consumption and hence saving energy.

That's quite true, and not exactly new.
Where I started work (in the middle ages) was in a process plant with its own power station. It was coal fired with steam turbine driven alternators. Much of the low pressure pass-out steam from the turbines was used as process heat for the plant and heating for offices rather than being fed into condensers and the thermal energy lost.
Although it wasn't called that then, it was CHP station where use was made of waste heat.

Opinion only, but perhaps some might say, that's the sort of talk one might expect from a Village Idiot who does not know how to turn it off and thus doesn't know the best way to save energy in his case. The type that indulges in occasional toilet talk with a primary purpose of and thus should know what to do with his head from time to time Of course fortunately we all know that wouldn't be anyone on this forum. Don't we ?

Did I just hear the sound of a pot calling a kettle black ? Oh not you at all. Wouldn't dare. It just reminds me of someone who reminds me of you. Might you be related ? Speaking about respect. Would you prefer I just delete both posts ? It seems you are happy to dish out disrespect quite often, but it's clear even when not directly mentioned, the guilt must be such that you can't take it. Now that used a bit of energy so my apologies for any wasted breath, that could have been spent on more fruitful matters. I will attribute it to the perils of online chat forums, arguably by some, global warming contributors, with all the hot air floating around.
