Default GM Says Americans Won't Give Up SUVs, But They'll Plug Them

Bob Lutz says the future of the automobile can be summed up in two words: Proportion and propulsion. That's a snappy way of saying big cars aren't going anywhere, but at least they'll be electric.

Default Not from what I've seen

Everyone I know is trading in their SUV's for smaller vehicles.

GM can continue living in their naive dream world or begin to mimic Toyota's strategy.

Yeah given their track record recently I don't reckon I'll be taking their word on future trends in the car market

What I find interesting about Toyota is that their new generation of cars have all gotten larger. Here in Australia, Toyota have recently released the new Corolla, Kluger and LandCruiser. All of these vehicles have grown by a large amount, the new Corolla is the size of the old Camry. The new Kluger is now almost the size of the old Landcruiser and the new Landcruiser is now the size of most American made SUVs (obviously to compete in that market). It surprises me that Toyota has taken this design approach at this point in time when fuel consumption and emissions are such important issues.
