Food prices could rise further because exceptionally wet weather has led to delays in the harvest, industry experts have told the BBC.

Almost two-thirds of people - 60% - in 26 countries say higher food and energy prices this year have affected them "a great deal", a BBC report has found.

The BBC World Service global study said that while all nations had felt the burden of the higher costs, the problem was most acute in poorer countries.

Food price rises have started to slow after climbing steeply earlier this year, a survey for the BBC has shown.

Prices rose 9% in the nine months to September, but slowed between August and September to increase just 0.6%.

Seems to be largely in line with other commodity prices.
