I wouldn't like to see international food stopped completely as it adds so much to life, but if food can be sourced locally then that is the sensible thing to do.

If everyone switches to eating locally grown food, can they be allowed to travel around a bit on trains and bikes to visit different areas with different locally grown foods?

Locally grown food is all well and good, but try sourcing New York City beef or Minesota orange juice or New Mexico fresh berries.

Also if everyone eats local you better expand your definition of local because feeding cities of millions can not be accomplished within close proximity to cities, expecially considering geographic variations of food.

Sure, but I have heard of some ridiculous examples of foods being transported great distances even though they can in fact be produced much closer. There have been complaints here by local farmers that they are having to dig crops into the ground because they can't compete with cheap imports. It started a few years ago with oranges. I just don't think it's right that we get orange juice concentrate from South America when we can produce it here. Most garlic in Australia comes from overseas. Lots of seafood. These are things we should be able to source reasonably locally.
