I though the Ceilidh dancing would get them fitter. Going to the gym (by car) seems more popular than cycling with them at the moment. I think if I tried your line they'd probably ask if I was offering, but I'll try your line sometime and let you know the response.
(Ceilidh dancing is generally the opposite of cool as far as the majority of people are concerned, hance the low number of blokes there, generally people get a bit drunk before hand and havoc ensues)

I am green, work in the environmental "industry" and I still got dumped by my girlfriend. Are there different shades of green?

A mate of mine was on an anit-triden protest on Rainbow Warrior in Faslane. It all went a bit wrong because (I think she meant another ship) had tried the same thing the week before so all the authorites were prepared. As soon as they got there the ship was siezed and they were escorted to open waters, only half the crew were alowed to man the ship so my mate was with the group that had to tackle an asault course of obstacles to jump into a dingy and sail out to somewhere off the coast of Arron (I think) to meet the ship. They took shifts sailing back to the Thames. When they reached harbour, on a massive adrenaline high, she climbed to the top of the mast and phoned home. Her boyfreind answered and dumped by her. Reasons given 'She's too green and get's too attached to 'things', not wanting to part with anything until she's found a new home for it (she say's that this tends to apply to her boyfriends too so at least he saved her that job)'
He was an ecologist or something like that, he worked with trees anyhow. I guess maybe it's more popular for blokes to be green and probably just supposed to be about saying the right things (after all, you're still supposed to fly away on a nice posh honeymoon somewhere a long way away, relaxing on beaches enjoying the sunset, aint you? )

I read an interesting article today about altruism and the romantic motives behind it. The basic premise is that men want a woman that self sacrifices, whilst a woman wants a man with plentiful resources. So a (courting) man donating to charity does so to show off his abundant resources, whilst a woman donating her time to charity does likewise. This helps to explain why so much altruism is done in the public eye.

So guys, you gotta go green if you wanna get the girl

What women say they want in a survey and what they actually want are two different things. Environmentalism is not, and will not, be the way to attract a female. Knowing that a man recycles does not arouse females sexually, and it does not make them want to marry you. Forget environmentalism as a way to attract ladies - unless you want just want them to admire you the way they admire cute puppies.

Hmm.. It depends on the female I guess. My personal daydream does involve green men doing.. all kinds of green stuff!
- - And what's wrong with the "puppy admiration"? It's better than nothing I suppose?
