I had the fun of informing three cats that they were not allowed outside this morning due to the high winds.....

I could have gone to A&E to have my wounds seen to but I wasn't in the mood to challenge their four-hour target figures.

I'm not allowed out today either. I'd be working in the woods if I were, but not a good idea in this wind.

The Brook that runs through our largest site was the highest that I've ever seen it the moring: the wet meadows are very wet now.

Default Wierd French weather

The weather in SW France is very unseasonable. Normally it is very changeable from December to end of Feb but this year we had two very dry weeks with very cold nights, but sunny warm days, but apart from that it is mild to the point of being warm, today is very stormy but the wind from the south west is warm. The roses haven't stopped flowering at all this year, saw a mozzy outside a few days ago and the flies and other flying insects have been zipping around all winter, thankfully so have the wasps who are welcome guests on our south facing wall.
Changeable is the word I guess, one days is wet and windy, though mild and the next is warm and sunny. On new years day sat outside in the sunshine after lunch for coffee. New Years day 2002 was minus 11C!
Things have changed already, that is for sure.

You should write a book about it, noddy.

We also have three cats. Geriatrics aged 16,17 and 21. They would drive us batty if no allowed out even if it's just to run out for 10 minutes and then to run back in to the comfort of the wood stove. They don't mind the cold and will stay out most of the night (except the old fellow) if it's this side of minus 15c. Rain is what they don't like. It rarely rains here but even a drop or two on their backs and they scrambling to be let in.

Today is 3c and a big blue sky. The oldest cat will find a sunbeam on the bed and wiggle around to try and stay in it. It gets dark just after 5pm and they'll all be at the door after their bellies are full.

[quote="geoguy"]Just a regular winter here in Alberta.

Is this Calgary area? Further north (closer to Jasper), we're having another mild winter - although with lots of gorgeous snow this year! Gotta love it. WIND has been unusual, though.

Omg, did you see the weather in Europe? I can't believe the storms. Seems like we are able to deal with many things, but nature is always more powerfull and takes us by surprise.

Beautiful!

It's snowing. It's the first time this "winter" season. And the temperatures are slightly below 0 centigrades. This is also the first time this "winter" season. A few weeks ago, the rose gardens were in full bloom.
