Default What is your MPG?

Thought it might be interesting to see what MPG your car gets.

2K2 Toyota Echo avgs. 35 mpg. Can't afford those expensive hybrids or fancy diesel VW's.

Vehicles:

Bicycles - mileage measured in calories
Motorcycle - ZX6 - > 50
Car - Celica - ~ 33 - This is the main vehicle, therefore my vote reflects this
Truck - F150 - ~ 17

Bicycle commute daily

When we use the car, ours is a Citroen C3 diesel (70BHP) which achieves around 62 to 65 MPG for the long distances we tend to use it on. The DVLA give us a lovely low road tax of £85 per year too, because our little car is so cuddly and sweet and has reasonably low emissions.

Reporter,

To drive a Toyota Echo you presumably bought it recently (they've not been around long) and might have bought it new (or on credit). I'm surprised then, that you perceive diesels to be expensive. Sure you pay a small premium to buy superior engine technology, but with 50% better fuel economy, this is soon recovered.

I know some will regard the above as preachy or bragging, but with a little thought and organisation when selecting our car in September last year, we're doing what we can without investing more in a Honda IMA powered car, or Toyota Prius. We've also got lower running costs than the other cars on the market; now that is boasting!

Probably about 75cc of oil per 1000 miles goes onto the chains of my bikes so not too bad. Also there is a negligable (for this calc) amount of oil used in brake bloke and tyre manufacture but these last so long that it's not worth calculating.

Car, the few times that it's used each year, gets around 70mpg at cruising speed (around 57mph).

The micra does less than 40mpg. The Mercedes van does about the same, bizarrely, although the engine is twice the size. Diesel over petrol I suppose.

The MPG of my vehicle is 0. I live and work in the same place, no need for a car. Do I measure walking in calories too? If so at 5km/hr approx 3 calories, 7km approx 4.5 calories but that seems like it is going too fast for me, Tortoise is my middle name

Volvo S40 SE - about 35 mpg
Volvo XC90 - about 28 mpg

Can do better than that if I'm just on motorways/dual carriageways... you can even get better than 40 out of the XC90 which I don't think is bad for a vehicle like that.
