Default Amazon tribe enlists Google in battle with illegal loggers

The tribe – whose first contact with the modern world was less than 40 years ago – are replacing their bows and arrows with hi-tech gadgets in their battle for survival. They have already begun using satnav on their traditional trails through the trees. And Google Earth has just agreed to provide high-resolution satellite images of their forest home.

Does seem more of a benefit to Google than to the tribes people.

I was assuming that the tribes people would be using the photos as evidence of logging, possibly in legal action or a campaign to get better defence measures. Was I wrong?

I don't have a clue.

However they didn't just discover a computer with wireless interenet access lying around in their forest so I would have thought that they would be able to access lawyers and things if they wanted them. I'm not sure where the money would come from, unless they could get one of their tribe to be sponsored to study law or a lawyer to take on the case for free or something. But if the case met the aims of the Amazon Conservation Team that has got involved then maybe they would be able to provide funds.
