Paradox.
I am sorry. But vulcanism has NOT increased with global warming. If anything, it has dropped, notwithstanding your protests. There is NO correlation between vulcanism and climate change. Nor should there be. They are two quite distinctly different phenomena.

Next thing is you will be telling me that the Boxing Day tsuanami was caused by global warming.

Bloody hell.....

If air travel was banned until environment-friendly fuels for aeroplanes was ready to be put in use, my guess is that people would to the very least be able to accept that the situation is pretty grim. As of now, air fares are, paradoxically, at its lowest ever! An airline ticket from Oslo to Rome is cheaper than a bus ticket from Oslo to Bergen. It doesn't make sense.

But okay: "Only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and when it comes to the last, I'm not sure," Albert Einstein said.

Think on. Such a move would be politically impossible.

Seems as though GE, BP and other large companies are looking to tackle green technologies in a big way so hopefully some new innovations will come from that.

The CEO of Toyota was urging his fellow automotive leaders to get involved in a solution to climate change. If I recall correctly he mentioned wanting to lift the stigma of being the 'against' group. Wise choice.

In my opinion these companies must take these steps or face a backlash of public resentment that may get very ugly. Let's hope this new trend gains some traction.

Scientists pinpoint polar catastrophe

Climate change a threat to development-World bank

I have always maintained that globalization would be one of the first casualties of climate change. It's sad watching this debacle unfold...'every man for himself' could soon be the new rallying cry.

Two tropical storms and a cat 3 hurricane are buzzing around the US at the moment. Does anyone find the two off the Pacific a bit odd?

Hurricane Update

We got lucky w/Ernesto. At least for now. That Super Typhoon Ioka is a MONSTER. It's not close to anyone here is it?

Forget Kyoto— global cooling is on the way

This could be a double wammy if the Gulf Stream continues to weaken or heaven forbid, stops. I know this hypothesis flies in the face of conventional wisdom but ice-core evidence supports these views. The truth of the matter is that we cannot afford to be wrong whatever we do. We need energy technologies now because if it does get cold...really cold, demand is going to go through the roof.
