Default Cold, Hard Facts About Global Warming

Are glaciers, ice caps, and sea ice melting worldwide because human industrial activity is causing global warming? Geologic history says otherwise.
Ice ages have come and gone for millennia in the absence of greenhouse gases being produced by human industrial activity. In the Northern Hemisphere, for example, a Medieval Warm Period (800–1300 A.D.) gave way to a Little Ice Age (1300–1900 A.D.), from which we began to emerge only a century ago. The temperature and ecosystem changes the warming and cooling periods triggered are vastly greater than anything observed in recent decades.

Will you just get over it?!

We all know that the planet naturally warms and cools without human input, and that the ice caps have previously covered most of the surface, but are now receeding as we emerge from the last ice age.

We also know that human activity is adding to the ability of the atmosphere to retain heat.

It really doesn't matter if you can provide evidence to show how much warming is caused by people rather than natural cycles or sun spots.

We are having a detrimental effect on the climate through our energy use, and should be doing far more than we are to minimise our impacts.

That article took me back a few years, as I recognise the name of the lead researcher. (For those that don't know, my doctorate was in glaciology.) Anyway, I digress...

What I hate seeing is people making reference to "facts". If there's one fact that is in existence it is that climate is a very, very complex thing and it's something we don't fully understand. In essence, there are no hard and fast facts about the big picture when it comes to hypthesizing as to what is really going on with climate change. It's important that we recognise that, don't you think?

Not at all.
I posted link to the article. Which doesn't mean that I completely agree with that article.
