Alternatively put, refusing to recognise where the person discussing a topic with you actually has no issue with the idea that humans are having a measurable and damaging impact on the planet gets no-one any further towards changing society.
Emoticon answers/questions are rather limited aren't they, for articulate people?

MM.
Articulate people also don't insult with slanders.
I can sense you clearly don't like me being on this site, as you have demonstrated on many occasions, but it's a fact of life you will have to put up with. I am here to stay, so learn to deal with it.
I suggest that if you do make any attacks, that you should have some supporting evidence for your accusations, which evidently, in this case, are groundless.
Many member of this site, do see the problems caused by global warming, but as yourself, many of them fail to acknowledge the urgency of the situation. That is exactly what I suggest needs to be changed. The situation needs to be presented as more urgent than what is being acknowledged.
I just got off the phone with my Dad. He is 65 years od, and he has never seen the weather so out of the ordinary. Older people really do feel the changes in climate as the changes bring out the arthritis in their bodies. He is really not happy about the changes in weather. He has seen many years in his life, but he claims, the weather is getting out of control. It's starting to become insane. Windstorms and tornadoes, which were a rare occurence have become far too frequent in recent years, where he lives. He is worried. Frankly, so am I.
Jaunty Albatross, is an older and wiser man who has years of life from which he can draw loads of data to compare present circumstances to. He sees the urgency of the situation, unlike the egocetric young minds of today. Older people can all testify to the facts of life, we just need to take the time to listen to them. Jimmy Carter sees the environment in shambles. The point is, we are not listening to our elders, as we figure we are invincible with our large egoes. But only the elder can testify to the fact, that egoes always end up running into dead ends. Sooner or later frailty will catch up to all of us, and all of us will realize, in the end, that we as humans and our technologies aren't invincible, and that nature can beat us with one hand tied behind its back, so it's better to face the facts beforehand, and ratify a common approach that has the potential to save us all. We must listen to the wise old men. We simply don't have the wisdom to make important decisions without them, as wisdom comes only with age. People learn best from their mistakes, so the years that go by are the best teachers a man can have. But why not, listen to the old and wise, instead of learning from our own failures.
Changes are happening, and they are occuring much too fast. What is to happen in ten years if the rate of change continues unhindered? How many hurricanes will the Gulf see? It's a scary fact we must face, and we should try to work out and implement a solution, before things get out of control, beyond the point of repair.
