So we have to put up with your gloomy outlook on life forever?
I don't know if you got Dads Army in America but you remind me of one of the characters - Private Frazer.
He was a Scottish guy and is certainly not an optimist, and his interest in the occult has confirmed his belief that we are all doomed ! Doomed !'

bruce,
You don't have to put up with anything except death and taxes,
but with a good lawyer...... Meanwhile, breathe deep.

But you're so grumpy dude. Even if things are as bad as you say you can still find lots about life to enjoy

bruce,
And I do every day; but most of the people posting here are actively
sugar-coating the fact of humanity's predatory scourge of the planet, and
refusing to admit the consequences, which deludes the readers. Not OK.

Pretty much yeh, but it still gets on my wick sometimes because people want certain things in their developments because of the image, not because it's actually more sustainable than the traditional alternatives.
Anyway, that's off-topic. Back to the discussion Batman!

Jaunty! Glad to see you are still around. Hope your health is OK.
I will bet every dollar I own on the fact that some of the people on this site come here to make a living. I bet the U.S. government as well as other governments have enough resources for this kind of publicity scam; to make people believe everything is OK, so they can go on their sweet and merry way to screw up the world as usual. They are here to cloud the truth. They are here to disrupt the truth from coming forth so they can f..ck all of us where the sun don't shine, while we aren't aware of any damned thing that's really going on around us. Idiots are always the easiest to lead by their noses. Well, I have a message for you. I am not a damned idiot and I am proud of it. Anyone care to live in the world of enlightenment? Anyone want the penetration to stop?
Jaunty. No one here gives a damn. At least they don't seem to. But they will when they start feeling the hurt caused by the penetration into all those dark places. I respect you, as you have the wisdom and the sense to see what's really going on around you. Don't let the bunch of them bring you down. They have already won if you let them, as that's their very aim. Keep your spirits up old fellow. Don't let them tower over you. You are here to spread the truth. People will start to listen. The evidence is already too overwhelming for people to just keep on passing by it.
If you so happen to give a damn, please let us know. We sure could use some of your support. If not, we understand, as you have a job to do.

I'm sure all parts of the spectrum of opinion are represented in even the relatively small sample membership of this site.
The suggestion that few people give a damn is, frankly, insulting and ignorant.
Sure, the problem is immense, and sure we have to be acting now (not in ten or twenty years time) to adapt. It is also clear that the battle to convince the Billions of relatively affluent people living in comfort, well away from the vast majority of supposedly natural disasters that strike large areas of this planet annually.
No matter what comment typed in a post has contributed to the negativity expressed by some members, none of us can afford to take challenges so personally that we feel vicimised or persecuted.
Quite simply, please don't be offended when someone chooses to question your choice of words. It doesn't necessarily mean they disagree with the sentiment behind what you say.
Alienating those who braodly agree with your position doesn't further any argument.

Alternatively put, refusing to recognise where the person discussing a topic with you actually has no issue with the idea that humans are having a measurable and damaging impact on the planet gets no-one any further towards changing society.
Emoticon answers/questions are rather limited aren't they, for articulate people?

ZPJ,
Thanks for your kind words. Depressed as I am, I'm otherwise in reasonably
good health, so I will continue to hang out here because you and a few others
are the only people who understand what I'm saying, and I am one of the
few who understands what you are saying. So, let's keep each other company
for as long as we can while the biosphere collapses around us, and we will
be among the last voices of eco-conscious humanity to be read on an
international forum - then silence profound.
