Default Can G8 influence climate change any more?

World leaders at the G8 summit in Japan agree aggressive targets to cut carbon emissions in an effort to tackle global warming.

BBC NEWS | World | Asia-Pacific | G8 vows to halve greenhouse gases

With so many major players such as China, India and Brazil outside the G8, do they have enough clout to force change on this?

I think they have the clout, the financial ability to take some firm measures to cut back, and the economic clout to pressure other countries into cuts. The problem looks to me like the leaders don't have the clout within their corporation driven economies to carry it off at home.

Its like alcoholism, first you have to admit that you have a problem, then the hard part is doing anything about it.

Our politicians will not tackle the climate change problem effectively until it is far too late.

We are toast.
