Default James Hansen: "Almost Too Late to Stop Global Warming"

On Monday, NASA climatologist Dr.James Hansen will testify at a House committee hearing that it is almost, but not quite, too late to start defusing what he calls the “global warming time bomb.” He will offer a plan for cuts in emissions and also a warning about the risks of further inaction.

Not that I've worked out the numbers, but I suspect the only way to stop irreversible climate change will be some drastic technological solution to cut down sunlight.

What he doesn't mention in that article is that he thinks execs from Exxon et al be put on trial for 'crimes against humanity'.

Isnt this the same guy who 'fiddled' the NOAA figures to show that 1998 had been the warmest year in the US when in fact 1934 had been ? The IPCC has been 'riding' his organizations dodgy data for years.

Exactly! Here is the corrected data overlaid on the previous data:

On the left is the global temperature record before the correction (green) and after the correction (red) , and on the right is the US temperature record before (green) and after (red) the correction:
http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/gr...sUSHCN.lrg.pdf

See how 1934 has shot ahead of 1998 in the US Temperature record! It must be a fraud it's such a MASSIVE correction!

Hey I wonder why The Citizens Journal and all those other Skeptic blogs didn't put a graph up like this to easily show their readers the SIGNIFICANCE of the corrections?

I suppose if they just described it in words they would have a great responsibility to accurately convey to their readers the actual significance of the corrections. I wonder if their readers went away with an accurate view of the matter..

A drastic technological solution to cut down atmospheric CO2 would have less unknowns.

Plants including phytoplankton eat visible light and this is the source of all energy for all life on the planet, baring some very esoteric archaea that live from geothermal energy.

"A drastic technological solution to cut down atmospheric CO2 would have less unknowns."

One certainty is millions would be condemned to prenmature death and suffering in the third world as we handicap thier development with utterly pointless CO 2 legislation.
