Default Free tickets left: World premiere Meat the Truth

Hi!
I would like to bring the following news to your attention about an interesting move premiere in London next Monday (19th of May). The movie is about the relationship between livestock farming and climate change. There are still free tickets left!

"Meat the Truth

A film about the massive impact of livestock farming on climate change

Meat the Truth is a thought-provoking new documentary, which explores the relationship between livestock farming and climate change. The film is presented by the Dutch politician Marianne Thieme, Member of Parliament for the Party for the Animals in the Netherlands. Meat the Truth is based on authoritative and influential scientific sources, which demonstrate that livestock farming is one of the most important causes of global warming.

Indeed, the film reveals that the livestock farming industry is responsible for the emission of more greenhouse gasses worldwide than all the cars, lorries, trains, boats and planes added together. The calculations used in the film derive from and have been verified by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the World Watch Institute and the Institute for Environmental Studies, Free University Amsterdam and numerous other reliable scientific sources.

Meat the Truth addresses the fact that climate policy has thus far failed to recognise the necessity of reducing the consumption of animal protein. In many respects, the film can be seen as an erratum to earlier documentaries, such as An Inconvenient Truth, which overlooked the impact of livestock production on climate change.

Many celebrities, such as Pamela Anderson, Bill Maher, James Cromwell, Emily Deschanel, Tony Denison, Esai Morales, Megan Blake, Debra Wilson Skelton, Elaine Hendrix, Kate Flannery, Carol Leifer, Joy Lauren, Hal Sparks, Constance Marie, Kristina Klebe, Skyler Gisondo, Graham Patrick Martin, Greg Vaughan and Touriya Haoud Vaughan, participated in the making of this documentary.

The world premiere of Meat the Truth will be held on 19th May 2008 at the Odeon West End cinema (40 Leicester Square, London WC2). The event will be hosted by The Vegetarian Society and the Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation and will mark the launch of National Vegetarian Week.
The film starts at 10 am and will last around 80 minutes. If you are interested in attending, please mail the organisers at <caroline@vegsoc.org with your name, address and telephone number by 14th May 2008. They will then place you on the official guest list and send you a ticket. Tickets are free, but there are a limited number of seats available, so it is first come, first served!!

For more information on the film and its makers, please visit <www.meatthetruth.com"
