Preventing Sea Rise

Posted 28th-March-2009 at 01:42 AM by Hephaestus

The 1st idea is to build water pumping stations at the south pole and have water pumped from the oceans and deposited into the middle of the Antarctic continent where it would turn to ice and solidify and thus lower the sea level.

My 2nd idea is to dig artificial rivers and estuary's in unpopulated areas of Russia, or Canada for example or even countries of Africa or Australia, anywhere really. The artificial rivers and estuary's will be extremely wide and after they have been dug the...

Why no mass Geothermal power?

Posted 23rd-March-2009 at 09:40 PM by Hephaestus

If you drill a hole into the Earth and go down deep enough it's extremely hot, you can send water down there and it's so hot steam comes back up which can then be used to power a turbine.
These power stations can be built anywhere in the world, in fact as far as I can tell you could build one for every town and city. It's a never ending abundant resource that will never run out for as long as the earth exists and there's absolutely no waste to speak of.

So why aren't we building...

Renewable Energy to Hydrogen.

Posted 23rd-March-2009 at 09:39 PM by Hephaestus

I propose the construction of several facility's in the middle of the north sea that can split water into it's constituent parts of oxygen and hydrogen through electrolysis.
The facility's will be similar to that of an oil rig but beneath it will be a device that generates power from the waves in the north sea, around this facility will be wind turbines and upon the top of this facility will be an array of solar dishes. (I would post a link to the specific kind I mean but It won't let me,...

Waste to Energy is the Future

Posted 23rd-March-2009 at 09:39 PM by Hephaestus

I am a firm believer that waste to energy is the future. We're producing more and more waste by the day and recycling just isn't enough IMO. Waste is one of the most abundant resources we have available and there's a never ending supply of it.
But it's dirty and would create far too much CO2 and other gases so what should we do? we should perform 'carbon capture' of course. Why should carbon capture only be attributed to coal or gas fired power stations? we could be burning waste in incinerators,...
